The northern part of the nation is statistically categorized as an under privilege region in terms of wealth or income levels. This article considers factors above just individual income levels. It actually looks at how it costs to live a normal Ghanaian life in the northern capital.
Let’s start
with the basic needs,
Lately there
have been an uprising in food prices but its still possible to spend less than
Ghc 5 or Ghc 3 on a healthy and normal full day’s meal depending on the area
you are. Now, of course you can choose to flaunt your wealth in luxurious
restaurants around town which may cost a fortune. But a lower income individual
won’t need to worry his/herself that much.
Cost of rent
is so low that you may wonder if Landlords really need rent proceeds.
Hospitality is so intertwined in the northern culture to an imaginable extent.
I must say that modernization is eroding this unique behavior but its still
within individuals raised in the city and its evident to anybody who has ever
has something to do with a northerner.
Social vices
are within the barest minimum in this city. This ensures security and
harmonious living. There’s serenity in almost all the spacious residential
areas of the city to give you the ultimate peace of mind and refreshment for
your daily activities.
The city of
Tamale is full of entrepreneurial business opportunities to get your life
started. Well, of course provided you have the capital to start it. These
entrepreneurial opportunities are far more rewarding than others in other
cities because competition is relatively less harsh if you get your business
right.
All in all
the city’s cost of living is astonishingly low. You can even decide to go on
weekend trips to its surrounding tourist sites at lower rates.
