NOTE: This list is done considering how far the artists' major
hits traveled through the nation. Northern music veterans like Kawastone, Abu
Sadik, Sherif Ghale etc. are excluded. We only consider the active - newer
generation of musicians in the north.
1. Don Sigli
With his kind of singing, you will wonder how on earth a guy
like that is not all over the nation. I guess the system isn’t always right.
Although he has had his own share of success in the northern part but we think
he is way over that level. With songs like ‘Natasha’, ‘Big time Ja-a milo’,
there is no need hesitating to acknowledge the fact that this guy is the ‘BOMB’
2. Fancy Gadam
Virtually all persons hailing from the northern capital
(Tamale) will appreciate the fact that this guy is slowly trying to lift the
spirit of northern music that has been hugely under exposed. He is arguably the
hottest MC around. What else can you ask for? He sings, He raps and He is good
in all of that and if you ask me, I will say such a person is hard to come by.
I hope the nation and the world at large will get to realize who this guy is.
3. S. K.Y (Tamale boy)
With
his fast rhythmic delivery and mostly random content verses, he has enough
songs to keep the streets of Tamale blazing. There’s nothing much to talk about
this rising legend other than the fact he is uniquely talented and we hope He
makes it to the top of the Ghanaian music industry.
4. Shaban
I must say that this guy is relatively new but he has
outlived the entire career of some artists before him in Tamale. When you have
the whole town talking about your music and wanting to know who the ‘hell you
are?’ it’s definitely a ground breaking move that should be celebrated. We
think he has the potential of rubbing shoulders with some of the big boy in the
Ghanaian music industry.
5. North Clique
This group is making conscious efforts to hit the corners of
this nation. You might have heard about them. They are not as celebrated as the
others names in this list but there are sure proving their worth the best way
they can. They have a wider vision of making it nationwide as compared to the
other names on the list. We hope their efforts over here in the capital city of
Gh will pay off.
